During the RAR Residency, I worked on a new series of graphic editions, testing the possibilities and limitations of the manual lino-printing technique. These works are created using hand-cut blocks from linoleum, arranged and printed manually. Unlike traditional linocut gravure, where ink is rolled onto the surface of a carved block, this method treats linoleum pieces as movable separate elements—printed individually or in combination to form layered compositions. All prints are Variable Editions —each one unique and impossible to repeat due to variations in arrangement, inking, and color. Following the experiential nature of those days, I worked with intuitively chosen shapes, exploring their possible repetitions, color combinations and the visual signs they transmit. Each series contains no more than 12 prints, all hand-numbered and signed. All of the prints are Variable Editions—each one unique.
The two monochrome paintings I present in this exhibition—“Ocra” and “Ruta”—belong to the On The Necessity of Gardening series. In this body of work, gardening becomes a metaphor for artistic practice itself: for the quiet, persistent power of focused care and the ongoing process of cultivation.
