Chapel of Kulturhaus Helferei / Zurich, Switzerland

From September 4th to 7th, the Chapel of Kulturhaus Helferei in Zurich opened its doors to a contemplative experience: The Meeting Point - a temporary site specific installation by Zurich-based artist Tetiana Kartasheva. Her new installation invited visitors into a space for reflection and interaction. “Standing in the chapel, with its neo-Gothic verticality and sense of elevation, I began to imagine how to add softness, how to create a landscape within — a place where people would want to stay for longer, slow down, and look both around and inward,” says Kartasheva. “As an artist I work with an abstract language, using shapes to create resonance in space, to address emotions, to inspire presence. In The Meeting Point I stepped out of the limited surface of canvas and also gave up control over how the shapes are arranged.”
All objects in the chapel are movable, touchable, and inhabitable. Visitors are invited to sit, lie down, exercise, or dream. Every small movement, every interaction, or even the choice not to interact, contributes to a shared, collective experience. In this way, a continuous cycle of connection and reflection unfolds. Within this open and safe space, the installation invites wonder: How does one find belonging after it has been lost?
For the realization of, the artist collaborated with Social Fabric, a Zurich-based studio and textile workshop that combines local production with social integration. On September 5th, the event program included the “Ghosts” - concert performance by My Tidal Me + Atelier NOW, which expanded the scope of dialogue and opened new dimensions of interaction.
The project was generously supported by Kulturhaus Helferei, the Elisabeth Weber Foundation and the Katlin Bechtler Foundation.
